Newcastle United are now closing in on completing the signing of AC Milan midfielder Sandro Tonali for around €70m, as per The Athletic.
This comes after they initially launched a €50m bid to sign him, but have automatically increased it to convince the Italian side to sell.
The Magpies are now in the process of finalizing the negotiations and landing Eddie Howe's top summer target.
If Tonali arrives at Newcastle for this figure, it would match the amount they paid to sign Alexander Isak from Real Sociedad last year.
The Italian midfielder has made 130 appearances for Milan in his career, scoring seven goals and providing 13 assists.
