Szoboszlai's dad used to make him train with golf balls in his hands – here's why

Liverpool are in hot pursuit of RB Leipzig midfielder Dominik Szoboszlai, as per reports from Fabrizio Romano and several other sources.

The Hungarian has a release clause of £60 million which expires today and Liverpool are hoping to trigger it.

Szoboszlai has impressed during his time at Salzburg and then Leipzig, where one of his impressive traits has been the ability to win the ball high up the pitch and setting up chances for his teammates.

The reason for this can be tracked back all the way to his younger years when he was a part of a football academy in Hungary called Fonix, which was started by his father and teammate, Bolla Bendegúz's father.

One of the training methods that was used involved the player holding a golf ball in each hand so as to prevent them from pulling other players' shirts.

This helped them find the best technical solutions to win the ball back and the results are clear to see. Over 50 players from the academy play in the first, second or third division of Hungary.
