Former referee: 'Stephan Lichtsteiner is one of the most unpleasant players I met'
- Former Swedish football referee Jonas Eriksson opens up about the ex-Juve defender and now a Gunner
Speaking to the Swedish TV channel SVT, Eriksson had his say on Lichtsteiner, who is known for his strong character: "I have met several international players and to judge a person, you have to meet them several times – and not just once when they have a bad day.
"Because everyone can have it. But I have met Lichtsteiner several times and he is one of the most unpleasant players I met.
Lichtsteiner sums up exactly what we’ve been missing for years. He has that grit when the going gets tough, leads by example, will make professional fouls when necessary & makes the game stop-start when required. Thought he was impressive tonight. Looks like a solid acquisition.— Patrick Timmons (@PatrickTimmons1) June 17, 2018
"You cannot talk to him, he gets more and more angry. When I’m trying to explain [my decision], I’m trying to be humble, but he’s hard to get in touch with. It creates a bad mood."
Liked what I saw from Lichtsteiner there. Looks a right horrible git to play against. Knows exactly what he's doing in every sense. Professional, well drilled, nasty. Bellerin should learn lots from him during the next 12 months— Charles Watts (@charles_watts) June 17, 2018
