Barca have €145m agreement with Coutinho, he could sign in January on 5-year deal
Barcelona will complete the €145million signing of Philippe Coutinho in January, according to reports in Spain.
Coutinho once again demonstrated why Barca wanted to sign him in the summer, scoring a hat-trick in the Reds' 7-0 demolition of Spartak Moscow on Wednesday. Mundo Deportivo reported on Thursday morning that a deal is already in place for the playmaker to sign a five-year contract.
Barcelona were close to signing the 25-year-old but Liverpool refused to sell their prized asset. However it is understood Coutinho had an agreement with Liverpool for the club to sell him in January, which means a move when the window reopens is likely.
It is also reported that Coutinho threatened to not play for the Reds in the Champions League this season with a view to being eligible for Barcelona in the knockout stages.
He ultimately decided against going on strike in the European competition but remains hopeful he will seal his dream move in the New Year.
