Wolfsburg sack team chef ... for allegedly putting a star player's life in danger
Wolfsburg have sacked their team chef after ‘putting star Maximilian Arnold’s life in danger over forgotten nut allergy’. German international, 23, suffered a severe reaction and spent the match in agony at the team hotel.
Maximilian Arnold missed the Bundesliga strugglers' 1-0 loss to bottom side Cologne on December 16. The German club said at the time that the 23-year-old was suffering from gastric problems and nausea.
However, Bild have allegedly uncovered the reason behind his absence. And they claim that head cook Olaf Suchanek was fired for forgetting that Arnold has a nut allergy.
The player reportedly suffered a severe reaction to a pre-match meal provided by the chef. And the Germany international midfielder was then forced to spend the game in agony at the team hotel.
Allergic reactions to food can be life-threatening in some cases.
