Ladies' coach Emma Hayes praises her team
Chelsea Women have had an extremely saturated schedule, as they played 5 important matches in three different competitions in a matter of two weeks. After a 1-1 draw against Arsenal, Hayes told she was proud of the girls who kept fighting through the fatigue and still have 3 points in the bag on top of the Premier League's table.
"I thought my team was brilliant. Only one team wanted to win that game and considering it was our fifth match in the past two weeks, we controlled it, we scored the first goal and dominated the first half.
"Fran has been brilliant the past couple of week and. My players gave it everything they possibly could – they were running on empty. It's been a really tough schedule.
"I also felt there was a foul on one of our players in the build-up to their goal; it wasn't given and at this level you've got to try to win 1-0, because it's a big ask to expect the team to keep pushing for goal when you've got a lot of accumulative fatigue.
"I think there is still a gap between the two teams. Arsenal haven't played a lot of football recently and I expected them to be a bit more aggressive than they were. I though we were the dominant team, in the ascendancy, and we looked the more likely to score."
