Hello football fans and welcome to our live coverage of the Premier League clash between Chelsea and Crystal Palace at Stamford Bridge!
Chelsea have made four changes from their defeat at the hands of City last week. Kante returns in the middle of the park, while Zappacosta, Cahill and Giroud also get the nod to start. Pedro, Moses, Antonio Rudiger and Danny Drinkwater make way.
Palace are unchanged from their defeat at the hands of United on Monday. However, Zaha and Sakho return to the bench after injury lay-offs, providing a huge boost for Hodgson ahead of the stretch run.
The defending champions are in desperate need of a boost after losing four of their last five matches, leaving them in fifth place and five points outside of the Champions League spots. Meanwhile, the Eagles are inside the bottom three of the division after losing three matches in a row.
Chelsea have lost their last two Premier League meetings with Crystal Palace — they last lost three or more consecutive matches against a single opponent between 2010 and 2012 (vs. Liverpool). The Eagles have won back-to-back matches at Stamford Bridge, too, after failing to win any of their first 13 top-flight visits to this part of West London, losing eight of those.
The game is underway at Stamford Bridge!
The hosts start at a good pace, but once they lose possession, the Eagles quickly prove to be good at keeping the ball.
Zappacosta picks out Giroud in the middle of the penalty area, but the Frenchman fails to properly get his hand on the ball and it sails over the crossbar.
The Eagles win their first corner and even deliver the ball to Benteke, but the striker can't get a shot and lets Courtois make the claim.
Zappacosta dribbles into the box to win a corner kick for Chelsea, which comes to nothing.
Kante shoots from outside the box! Straight into the hands of Hennessey.
Zappacost attempts a shot on goal but sees it pinball between the defenders.
Townsend with a volley from the edge of the box! Just over the crossbar!
Kante attempts a cunning through ball towards Giroud, but Tomkins makes a timely interception.
Not much going on at the moment as the two sides are battling for possession.
The Eagles besiege Chelsea's box, but with little actual threat in their actions.
Willian gets a good chance to unleash another long-range strike, but the Brazilian disappointingly sends the ball well over the bar.
GOOOOOOOOOAL!!! Willian cuts inside from the left and expertly picks out the bottom corner!
Benteke and Sorloth link up well inside the Chelsea box, but the latter fires the ball wide of the target.
Zappacosta with a cross to Giroud again, but the Frenchman nods the ball straight at Hennessey.
GOOOOOOOAL!!! Unlucky for Palace as Kelly scores a clumsy own goal off the back of Hennessey in an attempt to clear Zappacosta's low cross!
One more goal before the break, and this game will be officially over!
It's been quite some time since we last saw Crystal Palace in control of the ball. All Chelsea after the first goal.
Giroud nods the ball into the path of Willian, and the Brazilian darts into the box until he is stopped by one of Palace defenders.
The Eagles only manage five-six passes before conceding possession. The hosts are looking forward to the half-time whistle.
What a chance!!! Willian produces a marvelous backheel pass to Hazard, the Belgian passes the ball further to Giroud, and it looked like a certain goal, but Kelly clears off the line!
The Blues have the ball in the back of the net, but the goal is disallowed. Offside.
HALF-TIME! Chelsea get the job done in the first period, scoring two goals and almost making in three. Having a comfortable lead should let Conte rest some key players ahead of Tuesday's crucial Champions League game against Barcelona.
The visitors get the second half underway!
Wilfried Zaha has replaced Benteke at the break.
Chance for Palace! They almost jump back into the game as Sorlot's powerful effort thunders against the woodwork!
Hodgson gets hit by the ball and he and Conte have a good laugh about this episode. Great atmosphere at Stamford Bridge tonight!
Willian makes a good run before passing to Giroud, the Frenchman passes back, but Tomkins brilliantly blocks the resulting shot!
Plenty of chances in the opening minutes of the second half! The game is far from over!
Hennessey rescues his team by denying Hazard from point-blank range!
Palace win a free kick at the left side of Chelsea's box following a foul on Zaha.
The resulting shot is blocked, and Van Aanholt's strike on the loose ball is saved by Courtois.
Van Aanholt is cautioned for a rash challenge on Hazard.
Giroud heads a Willian cross over the bar!
Chaos erupts inside Chelsea's box, but Palace players just cannot get a shot in.
Cahill brings Townsend to the deck but somehow avoids a booking.
GIROUD!!! Comes close to scoring again, but drives his effort into the post!
Some twenty minutes left to play, and it is impossible that we won't ee another goal here! Chances just keep coming!
Giroud smiles ironically as he makes way for Alvaro Morata. The Frenchman has plenty of opportunities to put his name on the scoresheet tonight, but all was in vain.
Jairo Riedewald replaces Schlupp for the visitors.
Morata attempts his first shot of the game, but it's an easy save for Hennessey.
Townsend comes off, making way for Lee Chung-Yong.
Emotions start getting in the way for Crystal Palace as Tomkins pushes Alonso.
Palace see their goal disallowed due to offside, in a similar way that Chelsea did in the first half.
Morata is booked for a confrontation with Tomkins.
Tomkins behaves badly again and picks up a booking.
Double substitution for the hists: Pedro replaces Fabregas…
And Tiemoue Bakayoko comes on for Hazard.
GOAL! Van Anholt takes one back for Crystal Palace! And there's still time…
There will be three minutes of added time.
