Do Chambers and Holding have a future at Arsenal?
The duo has developed into two very talented defenders. However, there is just one vacant place. Who is going to take it?
• Both are British.
• Both are tall and strong.
• Both can control the ball and distribute it out from the deep.
Calum Chambers joined Arsenal a bit earlier - he arrived in 2014 from Southampton. He spent last season at Middlesbrough on loan which was instrumental to his progress. Another loan would be the best option for him.
Rob Holding arrived in 2016 from Bolton but had to wait longer for the first-team opportunities. Still, he managed to shine in the Europa League matches while the brightest moment of his Arsenal career so far was the FA Cup final against Chelsea last year when he nullified Diego Costa's impact up front.
Unfortunately, Holding loses concentration easily and cannot cope with the pressure. When senior defenders were unavailable, Holding wasn't able to step up and shine, it was a nightmare for him instead.
Both Holding and Chambers are good but have they reached the Gunners' level yet? Besides, there are too many defenders at Arsenal already. Chambers and Holding need more first-team football. Perhaps, both of them should leave for a Championship side to gain this vital experience.
Chambers or Holding - who has a future at Arsenal?
