6 things spotted as Arsenal prepare for CSKA clash
Thomas Bristow was present at the Gunners training session.
1. Getting boring, this...
"Another Thursday evening match, another game club record signing Aubameyang can't feature in. Last month the striker revealed his frustration at not being able to play regularly for the Gunners. He'll have to miss out once again as Arsenal travel to Russia. It will all be worth it if he gets to play Champions League football regularly next season."
2. Laca loving it
"Since returning from injury it's been a good couple of weeks for Lacazette. The Frenchman has scored three in his last three. And with Aubameyang absent on Thursday evening he'll likely be leading Arsenal's line once again. The second leg will provide the France striker with a chance to continue his scoring streak."
3. Joker Jack
"Jack Wilshere was arguably lucky to escape a red card against Southampton on Sunday. The England midfielder clashed with Jack Stephens who ultimately received his marching orders. Wilshere looked in better spirits during Arsenal training and was even snapped at one point pulling faces."
4. One-on-one to see who's the best
"Despite both Lacazette AND Wenger stating that the France and Gabon forwards can play together, there still seems to be a debate raging on over the pair. How do you settle most things? With a game of one-on-one of course. Lacazette and Aubameyang appear to be going toe-to-toe in training."
5. High spirits
"After losing four games on the bounce, Arsenal have won six games in a row. Spirits are high once again in the Arsenal camp and good morale will be vital for the season's run in - especially if they're targeting Europa League glory."
6. Is that the semi-finals I can see?
"With Arsene Wenger's own future depending on the Europa League, Thursday's clash becomes that more vital for the Frenchman. Despite having one foot in the semis, Wenger can't afford any slip ups. CSKA will no doubt be looking to draw inspiration from Roma who came back from the exact same deficit against Barcelona on Tuesday evening."
