"The Irishman arrived in north London after a long stint at Crystal Palace, reuniting with former teammate Ian Wright. McGoldrick was a regular in his first season but struggled for regular game time for his next two seasons. Spent his last year wearing No.21."

"Helder was George Graham's last signing as Arsenal boss in February 1995. He managed just one Premier League goal for the club before being shipped out to Benfica on loan, shortly after Arsene Wenger's arrival."

"One of Arsene Wenger's finest signings as Gunners boss. The speedy Dutchman arrived in north London in the summer of 1997 from Ajax and was instrumental in their first Premier League title success. Overmars scored 16 times in his debut season and was as impressive in front of goal in each of his three campaigns with the club. He would leave for Barcelona after in 2000 along with teammate Emmanuel Petit."

"After impressing with France at the European Championships, Wiltord arrived at Highbury for a club-record £13m. He famously scored the winning goal against Manchester United to clinch the Premier League title in 2002. Wiltord was still at the club during the Invincibles season but his opportunities were few and far between before he left for Lyon."

"Arsenal swooped for Van Persie when he was just 20 and the Dutchman would go on to spend eight seasons with the club. Van Persie was converted into a striker by Arsene Wenger and eventually became one of the Premier League's leading marskmen. He was captain in his latter years at the Emirates - when he switched to the No.10 shirt. He was prolific in his final two seasons and ended his Arsenal career by winning the PFA Player of the Year award before joining Manchester United."

"Vela inherited Van Persie's shirt number and was tipped to emulate him - but it never really worked out. The Mexican arrived in north London in 2005 but did not play until three years later after multiple loan spells. He initially impressed in cup competitions and found Premier League outings hard to come by. Vela only spent six months in the No.11 shirt before being loaned to West Brom and would leave in the summer of 2011 for Real Sociedad."

"Santos was one of a number of late additions in the summer of 2011. The Brazilian arrived from Fenerbahce and did score some notable goals - against Chelsea and West Brom. He is also known for trying to swap shirts with Van Persie at half-time of a shocking performance against Man United. Not quite one to remember."

"Arsenal pulled off a superb coup when they landed Ozil from Real Madrid in a £42.5m deal. The German has been involved in some moments of brilliance during his time in north London - but there have also been plenty of frustration too. When at it, there are few in world football who can hold a candle to Ozil. Last season, he recorded his 50th Premier League assist and will now hope for more wearing the No.10 shirt."
