Manuel Neuer: 'Germany players accept Ozil's decision to retire'
- Germany and Bayern Munich goalkeeper backs Arsenal playmaker for his decision to retire from international duty after World Cup in Russia
- Neuer claims Ozil has found his own telling arguments for this step
"If both of them [Ozil and Gundogan] or all of the players performed great at the World Cup we wouldn't stand here and talk about this.
On the question, if he was personally disappointed by Ozil's momentous decision to retire, Neuer added: "It's the decision of [each individual] player.
"When another player is saying that he wants to [retire] it's his own decision. You have to search [for] the reasons on your own then and in that case, he has found them.
"We're accepting this decision of course.
"In the past, other players had quit their career at the national team too after a tournament like the European Championship or the World Cup."
Everyone connected with Bayern Munich still doing their best to blame Ozil for Germany's failure this summer - Great diversion tactic to try and get people to forget the vast majority of the squad was made up of their own players, who all flopped.— Charles Watts (@charles_watts) August 1, 2018
