How Unai Emery can change approach to Arsenal's youth injection
paininthearsenal's Brian Wong looks into Arsenal's use of young players
"What hasn’t changed much is the opportunities given to younger players. It is an aspect of Arsenal which I have always respected. In other setups, a player like Emile Smith Rowe would never be a fan favourite overnight.
"A player like Matteo Guendouzi would never be considered a debating point when discussing the starting XI or the first person off the bench. It is nice to know that the culture of the importance of youth blended with amazing and expensive talents is still going strong at Arsenal.
"These players provide adequate insurance policies in the event of injury or a hole in the size of one Aaron Ramsey, for instance. Ramsey’s contract situation is what makes the minutes Guenduzi has played so much more interesting.
"In a way, it is good to know Arsenal haven’t abandoned what made them different and continue to try and get young players and develop them to become great players."
