Sources in Italy: Roma allegedly have their eyes on Xhaka
- AS Roma are on the lookout for a central midfielder
- Their sporting director Monchi believes he can convince the Gunners to sell Xhaka for a 'reasonable' price
According to Italian news outlet Il Tempo, Roma sporting director, Monchi, is making inquiries to find out if he could snatch Granit Xhaka for a reasonable price.
Roma switched their attention to Xhaka after ending their interest in Steven Nzonzi, who asked for €4.5m-a-year in wages after tax. What makes Roma think that Xhaka - if he even wants to leave the North London club - would ask for more is unclear.
The Italian side already has Maxime Gonalons in their central midfield, but they are looking for a more powerful player, who can protect the defence.
The report doesn't have anything to say on Arsenal or Xhaka reaction to this interest. However, the Swiss international might be interested in the move away from the Emirates, with his place in the starting XI in danger after Guendouzi and Torreira signings.
Would you be open to selling Xhaka this summer?
