Kicker: Arsenal allegedly eager to sign Boateng
- The Gunners could make a late bid for Boateng
- Bayern want €50m for their ace
- United and PSG are also in the race
According to major German newspaper Kicker, Arsenal are set to pounce on Jerome Boateng from Bayern. The 29-year-old centre back is available as the Bundesliga champions are ready to sanction his move from the club.
The report claims that the German outfit are likely to demand up to €50m (Transfermarkt value him at €45) for the defender, whose current contract runs until 2021. The source add that Manchester United and PSG are also keen on him.
Unai Emery is still eager to find additions to his defensive line as he's not convinced with players at his disposal. He's got plenty of options regarding central defenders: Konstantinos Mavropanos, newly-signed Sokratis Papastathopoulos, Shkodran Mustafi, Calum Chambers, Rob Holding. However, another classy centre-back is among Emery's targets.
The transfer window shuts on August, 9 in the Premier League. The clubs won't be eligible to buy new players after that date. Though, they will be still open to selling as other leagues finish set transfer deadline on August, 31.
Emery said on a possibility of outgoing transfers after a 2-0 Lazio win: "My focus is on the first match and preparing, and not for the window and the possibility to sign another player. Maybe we need some players to leave because we have lots in the squad, but at the moment, my one focus is on our work."
