Keown shares his opinion on what Ramsey demands to stay at Arsenal
- The ex-Gunner says is Aaron is a heart and soul of the club and should be kept
- Martin reckons money is not the reason for a contract signing delay
- He believes Rambo wants to be granted the main role at Arsenal to extend his stay
Aaron has one year left on his current deal with the Gunners and hasn't yet re-signed for the club. His future is up in the air as Prem rivals Chelsea and Liverpool are said to be interested in the 27-year-old. Keown wants to see the Welshman for many more seasons in Arsenal jersey and believes Rambo has a bright future at Emirates:
“No,” Keown told Starsport when asked if Arsenal should sell Ramsey. “I think he needs to be playing, Arsenal can’t afford to lose players of that quality. I think Ramsey is steeped in the Arsenal history and belief. He’s come through the ranks, he’s part of a group of players that were signed en masse by Arsene Wenger, British players.
“And I think he should be kept there and I hope he gets a main role within the team but I don’t know if he’s fit enough, this weekend that may be an issue. But he’s caught the eye and Emery’s gone on record to say he should be kept there and that’s good news for Ramsey.

“He needs now to get fit, stay in the team and perform and I’m sure he has a big future at Arsenal. What we need to look at is how well is the player going to play. This is his first new manager for many years.
“I know he came from Cardiff and I think he’s enjoying being put under a little bit of pressure and developing under a new manager. I don’t think he’s thinking too much. I don’t think he’s a player obsessed with contracts and money.
“I get the feeling he’s a player that wants to be given a main role at Arsenal and if he can be given that and he can perform then I believe a contract will follow. I’m not looking at him not signing and looking at his options. I know that’s happened for other players but Arsenal have allowed one or two players to leave, well quite a lot of players have gone.
“If you look from the start of last season to this we’ve seen a number of players leave the football club. (Alex) Oxlade-Chamberlain’s gone, Theo Walcott’s gone, (Jack) Wilshere’s gone. I think Ramsey is one they’ll definitely want to keep.”
