Daily Mail: Arsenal said to be readying bid for Milan's left-back Rodriguez
- An injury crisis could force the Gunners to sign a left-back
- 25-year-old Ricardo Rodriguez is a target and will cost £30m
According to the Daily Mail report, Unai Emery is desperate to sign a left-back as the Premier League campaign starts in less than a weak. He is said to be ready to launch a late bid for Milan full-back Ricardo Rodriguez. The transfer window shuts on August, 9 - thus, the Gunners should hurry up to secure a move. The source believe the Italian side could be convinced if £30m bid is lodged.
Sead Kolasinac is sidelined for 10 weeks after picking up an unlucky injury during a friendly tie against Chelsea in Dublin.
Nacho Monreal has missed a pre-season preparation after returning from the World Cup. Though he didn't feature in Russia, he came back to Arsenal with a knee issue that prevented him from joining the rest of the squad in training. He is expected to recover soon but is a doubt for Prem opener vs City.
Unai Emery said during the presser: “We don’t want the injuries but it’s one of those things that you can’t help. We have players like Nacho, but he arrived late from the World Cup and also has a small injury. It’s difficult for him to arrive for the match against Manchester City."
Ainsley Maitland-Niles is likely to be deployed as a fullback due to his versatility. His main position is a midfielder, but he was already used as a defender last season and delivered quite decent displays.
Arsenal contacted Ricardo Rodriguez in the last hours due to the injuries of Monreal and Kolasinac, but Rodriguez made it known that he is happy at Milan and wants to stay, especially with Elliott’s takeover and their great project.
