Unai Emery reveals five captains for a new season
- Laurent Koscielny, Petr Cech, Aaron Ramsey, Mesut Ozil and Granit Xhaka will be captains for this season
Speaking ahead of the Sunday's Premier League opening game vs Manchester City, Gunners boss has revealed who will wear captain's armband in the new 2018/19 season: "The captain of this group is Laurent Koscielny, who is injured at the moment. After Laurent, our other captains are Petr Cech, Aaron Ramsey, Mesut Ozil and Granit Xhaka."
Unai Emery has revealed that these five players are experienced enough to be a strong leader on and off the pitch: "I want leaders in the team, every player at every time to have the capacity to show leadership, but these are the five players who have a possibility to be the captain."
The 32-year-old France defender Laurent Koscielny is still recovering from Achilles injury he has picked up playing in Europa League against Atletico Madrid. Koscielny is expected to get back to full training presumably in December.

We just love to give the captaincy to a bench player who’s best years are behind them and are coming off a career ending injury.
Bringing some more team news, the Gunners boss said: "We have Koscielny out with a long injury and then also Kolasinac has a long injury. Today, Nacho Monreal began to train with the team. As well, Danny Welbeck has come in this week but on Sunday it will be early to start playing him. The other players are OK and we are working on the possibility to work with another player, who has experience in this [left-back] position.
"We want to give him confidence and the possibility to play. I'm not sure because I am going to decide tomorrow or on Sunday on the first 11, but Ainsley is the player who started the last match against Lazio."
