Martin Keown predicts Arsenal will finish in the top 4 this season
- Gunners legend Martin Keown believes Gunners are in no position to be title-contenders
- He, however, admits, they could finish in Top-4 this season
We are standing at the threshold of a new epoch, after a difficult campaign last season, which saw north London side finishing sixth in the Prem.
However, after the appointment of Unai Emery Arsenal have strengthened well this summer, bringing in five fresh faces, including Uruguay World Cup star Lucas Torreira.
And now Arsenal are about to get their new campaign underway this afternoon with Emery facing a difficult first test as he welcomes Manchester City to the Emirates.
Martin Keonw, an ex-Gunner himself is aware this season will be highly competitive for AFC:
“It’s a difficult one,”
“Because the previous manager used to say the top four was something to be proud of and now I think the club would actually settle to get back into the top four.
“Because there’s a transitional period, a new manager coming in after 22 years. You’ve seen the impact of Sir Alex Ferguson leaving.
“I know they (United) were winning trophies and Premier Leagues. Arsenal weren’t, well they haven’t won one since 2004.
“So I think Arsenal could really challenge for the top four positions, I wouldn’t have thought Arsenal could win the league.
“They’ll go into it optimistic but I’m sure that’s beyond them when you look at the quality of City and Liverpool, what they’re putting together.
“And then it’s a case of you look at Chelsea also out of the top four. Arsenal, Chelsea, Manchester United perhaps all going for that fourth place.
