Should Emery field 4-4-2 vs Man City?
- Arsenal’s 2018/19 Premier League campaign kicks off this Sunday
- They are taking on PL's reigning champions
- But what formation should Emery go with?
Arsenal’s 2018/19 Premier League campaign kicks off this Sunday when they host reigning champions Manchester City at the Emirates Stadium.
It will be a baptism of fire for new manager Unai Emery, who still has to sort out a number of issues, such as an abundance of selection dilemmas after inheriting mixed squad from Arsene Wenger.
Perhaps the most significant of those issues is how to play Arsenal’s two incredibly talented goalscorers, Alexandre Lacazette and Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang. While the latter enjoyed a more potent start to his Gunners career during the second half of last season, Lacazette showed his netting prowess during his time at Lyon and has been clinical for the north Londoners at times as well.
Throughout pre-season, Emery has experimented with including both in his starting XI with some mixed results, and, perhaps, he would want to field both pacey strikers this Sunday; playing Lacazette out wide, playing Aubameyang out wide, benching one of the two or starting them up front at the top of a bold 4-4-2 formation.
What formation should Emery go with, in your opinion?
