'We have to be patient', 'He needs time': fans react to Emery's PL debut vs City
The Gunners have lost the battle to reigning champions City. Raheem Sterling broke the deadlock in the first half to see us trying hard to find an equaliser. However, City were too strong and the second goal from Bernardo Silva almost killed the game.
We had a few chances to pull one back but we lacked top-class finishing in front of the opponent's goal. Fans predominantly express their support to the boss ahead of next week's clash vs Chelsea at Stamford Bridge despite a 0-2 defeat vs the Pep's side.
Emery requires time to solve issues left from Wenger:
Head up @UnaiEmery_ it's going to take time for you to sort out the shit wenger left us with— Gooner Adam (@AdzCampbell91) August 12, 2018
@UnaiEmery_ hold your head high, good positive movement. Keep working? Alex Furgison wasn’t an immediate success— Dullah (@dula113) August 12, 2018
Can’t expect too much after the first game , new manager is entitled to his first season to make changes how he sees fit and change takes time , we had some good spells in the game— John Casey (@jc1600sport) August 12, 2018
The change won't come in a day it's a gradual process we just need to be patience and get behind the team— Blackgemini26 (@blackgemini26) August 12, 2018
Chin up and get the best out of team against Chelsea. Every one knows it will take time. Just keep improving. #COYG— Shushant Shubham (@07Shushant) August 12, 2018
A lot of fans beam positivity despite the loss:
I was just that excited to see the gunners playing again I forgot who we were playing. When you’ve spent the amount of money Man City have spent over the sessions of course it’s going to be a hard game not to mention it being the first game of the season. Chin up!— Alex Craig (@AlexC0985) August 12, 2018
Yes it wasn't a good start we are expecting as a fan, but i know that nothing good comes essyly, we will keep fighting, i have confidence on our players and coaching clue led by emery who has a lot of experience from various club's he has managed.— Uchenna (@Uchenna99048765) August 12, 2018
Others are looking forward to Chelsea game and urge Emery to make changes to a starting line-up:
lacazette, torriera and Leno to start next game please— In unai we trust (@stanfordgracias) August 12, 2018
Just bring smith rowe for backup, awful attacking display, and cech just need to be dropped, a disaster waiting to happen— ?? (@wanmq__) August 12, 2018
It wasn't the winning start or anything near because Ozil and Xhaka were playing— Phil Gair (@philgair) August 12, 2018
How on earth does Ozil earn £350k, dude just be stealing a living at the Emirates. Ozil, Bellerin, Xhaka and Cech needs to be dropped. Its a new era, usher in Torreria, Leno, Laca and Leichestner.— Benny (@emypapis) August 12, 2018
What changes would you make in the line up vs Chelsea next week?
