Seaman hits out at Arsenal over Ozil's 'weird' situation
Arsenal legend David Seaman has called the whole situation with Mesut Ozil 'weird'. Neither the former German international, nor Arsenal boss Unai Emery have claimed that something is going wrong between them. On the contrary, Emery insists he is on good terms with Ozil. But a fact is a fact: Mesut hasn't started a single game since Boxing Day.
And he is still Arsenal's biggest earner having signed a £350,000-a-week worth contract a year ago. The deal suggested the German is going to be the key player, the reality shows Emery prefers to start anyone but him.
However, David Seaman wasn't harsh at Emery but slammed Ozil instead saying the German is not good enough even when he gets game time. His enormous wages suggest he should be an example of the right attitude but Mesut is far from being an example, Seaman claims.
"There's something really weird going on and I don’t think we’re getting the full story," David Seaman told talkSPORT. "It doesn’t look good. He’s the top-earning player at the club and he’s just not doing it.
"He’s not even doing it when he’s actually on the pitch as well, he’s not playing brilliantly. That can cause a lot of problems, especially with the amount of money he’s getting. It’s almost double what everybody else is doing, if not more in some cases.
"It can cause problems because the guy who is getting the most money is supposed to be the guy who is setting the example. He’s the best player at the club and you want to see that.
"But when you see that he’s not doing it, and he’s not doing regularly it breeds a little bit of discontent. The players get the hump with you."
