Alex Iwobi has been a target for fierce criticism from Arsenal fans. The Nigerian is often slammed for giving away possession to opponents. It was his mistake that led to City's opener in a 3-1 away loss to Guardiola's side. Many supporters left disappointed by the quality of his performance vs the Terriers in spite of the goal he scored to give us the lead and all efforts to maintain pressure on opponents up front.
As for Ains, he's a natural central midfielder but often deputises injured players on the right flank. Some fans claim Emery should not slot him as a wingback, insisting the 21-year-old doesn't have a skill set to play in that position. However, the versatile ace put in quite a decent performance.
"The criticism of Ainsley Maitland-Niles on social media is absolutely disgraceful. He’s a young player who’s played out of position on numerous occasions, he’s never complained and always give his best for the team. How about trying to support the young players!
"And don’t even get me started on the abuse that Alex Iwobi takes. Can’t believe what I heard from one idiot when he got substituted yesterday. Absolutely pathetic, scored a goal and ran his nuts off all game."
