3 positives to take away from Rennes victory
Following our second-leg victory, Arsenal.com analyse the positives from the game at the Emirates.
1. Aubameyang was on point
The Gabonese scored another two goals yesterday and set up Ainsley Maitland-Niles for his first ever goal at the Emirates. Moreover, the striker could've scored a couple more goals but, unfortunately, he missed his opportunity to get his first hattrick for Arsenal.
The forward was all over the pitch this Thursday, unlike last week when he was one of the worst players on the pitch.
Here is Aubameyang's touch map for yesterday's game:
2. Yet another rapid start
The second leg against Rennes was the seventh game in a row when Arsenal managed to score within the first 15 minutes of the game. Moreover, it was also the fifth time during the last 7 games when we scored before or on the sixth minute.
It is phenomenal how well Arsenal start their games this past month. Thanks to the Gunners' energy at the beginning of matches, we have led almost every game completely.
3. Cech continues to shine
The goalkeeper was probably our star performer in the first leg and he has not let us down this week either. The 36-year-old made a crucial save at the beginning of the second half to keep the Gunners in front. Thanks to his performance, Arsenal have now kept four straight clean sheets at home in the Europa League.
