Agent confirms Arsenal were interested in Juve's Rugani
- Arsenal will be looking for a centre back in summer.
- Daniele Rugani was one of the names linked with a move to Arsenal for some time in the past.
- His agent has confirmed the rumours, saying Arsenal were among interested clubs in the Juve defender.
- The 24-year-old is set to stay at the Italian club until at least 2023 when his renewed contract expires.
Davide Torchia, agent of the Tuscan defender, has released some information on the centre back who was tipped to switch the club earlier with Arsenal being among potential destinations for the 24-year-old.
"Juve can sign anyone [any player], but if you've been there for four years and offered to stay for another five seasons, it means you've worked in a certain way. He said no to the club the first time and after four years he re-signed the contract.
"Arsenal? They were was among the interested clubs, let's say that that interest was time-barred (laughs). There were also other clubs, but it's useless to talk about it now. There are requests now as well but there is no need to speak on them now."
BBC journalist David Ornstein has revealed our priorities for the summer transfer window:
"The other priority is a box to box midfielder. Previously, in January, they came close to a deal for Christopher Nkunku from PSG – this is course is to replace Aaron Ramsey. Adrien Rabiot is a player they’ve tried to sign in the past, and they have a long-standing interest in him, however, he is a complex individual and has had some issues off the pitch.
"As a sort of secondary brief they’d be looking for a wide forward and in January came close to a deal for Ivan Perisic, and had interest in Yannick Carrasco. Possibly a centre-forward with Danny Welbeck leaving, and Eddie Nketiah would go on loan if they did bring a centre-forward in.
"There is interest in bringing in a left back and possibly a right back, but again those are secondary to the centre-half and box to box midfielder."
