According to TRT Spor and Sabah journalist Fatih Dogan, Fenerbahce chiefs are trying to convince the 30-year-old to move to Turkey. Ozil has lost his status as an irreplaceable player following Unai Emery arrival. The player has Turkish origin and has never hidden his admiration for the country.
The German married his beloved girlfriend Gulse in Istanbul. Turkish president Recep Tayyip Erdogan was invited to be Ozil's best man at the wedding.
The journalist TRT Spor via Futbol Arena: “Fenerbahce president Ali Koc is working very hard to sign him. For his wages and loan fee, the club are trying to find the sponsors. They are working on it. I think it’s going very well. Right now, I can say the possibility is 50-51% positive.”
A potential move will be difficult to secure for the Turkish side. Fenerbahce are under investigation with UEFA for breaching FFP rules.
