Portuguese media: Arsenal, PSG & Monaco compete for So'ton full-back Soares
- The Gunners' & the Ligue 1 sides allegedly consider a move for the defender.
- The Saints would like to get £9.5m for the right-back.
- The 27-year-old was key for Portugal's 2016 UEFA Euro triumph.
- Emery's keen on reinforcing each flank of defence.
Although Unai Emery has identified acquiring a full-back as a secondary priority for this summer transfer window, the Spaniard would be happy to add both a left-back and a right-back to the squad if possible.
Acquiring the 27-year-old would cost around £9.5m - matching a buy-out clause which was included in the defender's loan deal at Inter Milan in January 2019. Such expenditure could suit Arsenal, given their limited transfer budget this summer.
Last term, Soares, a guaranteed starter at the Saints, played 22 games before completing a temporary move to Inter in winter. The Portuguese defender made only 9 appearances for the Nerazzurri.
The right-back also missed 5 matches due to a calf strain. However, Cedric's injury history should not be a concern: throughout 4 seasons in England, the 27-year-old was only ruled out of 27 clashes, each time with a minor issue.
The Sporting Academy graduate joined So'ton on a £4.7m move from the Lions back in 2015. Soares has made 118 appearances for the Saints.
Remarkably, the full-back represented Portugal on every youth level, starting from U16. The 27-year-old has won 33 international caps for the senior team and played each minute of the play-off stage at the victorious for A Selecao das Quinas Euro 2016.
