Ex-Gunner John Hartson: If Wan Bissaka cost Manchester United £50m Arsenal have got a snip in Tierney at £25m
- Tierney signed a 5-year contract with Arsenal in summer.
- Hartson claims getting such a player for just £25m is a real bargain.
- The ex-striker hails the versatility of the 22-year-old.
Arsenal signed Kieran Tierney at the end of the transfer campaign and it was a really tough deal. The Gunners negotiated with Celtic a few months to convince the Bhoys to let their star go. The north Londoners tried to get the 22-year-old for less than £25m.
However, the Hoops were reluctant to lower the asking price and the Gunners had to give in to their financial demands eventually. John Hartson, who played for Arsenal and Celtic in his career, still believes we got a bargain by signing Tierney for that fee:
“Arsenal have got a snip. Listen if Wan Bissaka cost Manchester United £50m at £25m they’ve got an absolute snip,” Hartson told www.footballfancast.com. “Arsenal have a fantastic player on their hands.
“Tierney can play left back, left centre-back and, if Arsenal want to play with a 3, then he provides that option too.
“He has great fitness levels and gets up and down the pitch with ease. For £25m Arsenal have a fantastic player on their hands.”
