'I don't know if he is going to play again': Emery confirms Xhaka's Arsenal career could be over
- Unai fears Xhaka won't be coming back into the Arsenal squad any time soon.
- Swiss international was stripped of the captaincy after an angry outburst against Crystal Palace.
Unai Emery all but confirms Granit Xhaka may not play for the Gunners at all.
"We need a player like Granit Xhaka. But also, I don't know if he's going to play again. I don't know, because if he is available in his mind to continue helping us and continuing defending the Arsenal shirt, I think the time is giving us that solution."
Earlier, Emery officially confirmed that Granit Xhaka is no longer a captain of Arsenal following Xhaka's outburst during the Crystal Palace clash last month.
All this happened after the Crystal Palace incident. Xhaka was clearly unhappy with his second-half substitution against Palace on October 27, showing his frustration by slowly walking off the pitch.
The reaction angered the fans at the Emirates as the score was tied at 2-2 and they proceeded to jeer the captain, who told them to 'f*** off' in response.
Who knew our perfect pre-season run will end abruptly in a series of mishaps this season:
