Arsenal chiefs publicly back Emery: 'He's the right man for the job'
- Head of sport Raul Sanllehi and managing director Vinai Venkatesham have expressed their concern with the team's abysmal performances.
- However, they believe Emery has the capacity to turn things around.
Arsenal directors Raul Sanllehi and Vinai Venkatesham have raised the issue of the team's poor form this season. They have stated that Emery is not going to be fired any time soon. Talking at a staff meeting, they said:
"We are as disappointed as everyone else with both our results and performances at this stage of the season," Sanllehi and Vinai are quoted by The Guardian.
"We share the frustration with our fans, Unai, players and all our staff as they are not at the level we want or expect. Things need to improve to meet our objectives for the season, and we firmly believe Unai is the right man for the job, together with the backroom team we have in place.
"We are all working intensively behind the scenes to turn things around and are confident we will. We never take our fantastic support for granted. We hope we can all stick together and get behind the team in this challenging period, as together we are stronger."
A recent report by the Athletic has claimed that the board are behind Emery, having witnessed the signs of improvement in a 2-0 loss against Leicester City. This public speech by Sanllehi and Venkatesham proves this report to be true, meaning we are not going to see Emery sacked in the near future.
Do you think we stand any chance of a Top-4 finish this season with Emery?
