Brazilian government orders 11,500 illicit betting sites to be blocked
Following the implementation of new regulations for the industry, the Brazilian government banned 11,500 illicit betting websites. 153 brands have been granted permission to participate in the online betting sector thus far.
Regis Dudena, the Ministry of Treasury's Secretary of Prizes and Bets, made the information public on February 10. According to Dudena, Anatel was given lists of errant websites by the government last year, which made it possible to remove the electronic addresses.
The government intends to boost income and provide a secure and monitored environment for the industry by regulating sports betting. After all, businesses may only function if they have applied for permission and adhered to the law.
It is anticipated that the betting industry will become more structured and transparent due to public input and new regulatory acts, which will lower fraud and provide Brazilian bettors with more security.
