Denmark's 2024 GGR hits record $1.02bn
The Danish Gambling Authority, Spillemyndigheden, has made public its 2024 full-year gambling income statistics.
Last year, total gross gaming revenue (GGR) in the four major markets was DKK 7.27 billion ($1.02 billion), up 6.9% from the previous year. Nearly half, or DKK 3.53 billion, came from the online casino GGR.
Additionally, this was 14.7% greater than the 2023 GGR for online casinos. Gaming machines, which accounted for 78.2% of revenue and were the game type that generated the majority of online casino GGR, were the source of the sector's highest income in December.
Additionally, betting GGR increased, but only by 1.2% to DKK 2.21 billion, with mobile making up the greatest portion of sales channel stakes (66.3%).
With a daily average GGR of DKK 3.18m and a 1.2% decline in GGR to DKK 1.16bn, gaming machines were the only one of the four verticals to not see an overall increase in 2024.
Land-based casinos in Denmark generated DKK 368 million in GGR in 2024, the smallest percentage of total GGR. This was a 1.7% increase over 2023.
