Morata denies links to illegal betting in Italy after being named in Fagioli investigation
Alvaro Morata has been linked with an ongoing illegal betting investigation currently ongoing in Italy.
The Spanish striker was named by Nicolo Fagiolgi, a Fiorentina player also being investigated for illegal betting.
In an audio obtained by investigators, Fagioli claimed that Morata had helped him get Rolex luxury watches at reduced prices. Fagioli then sold the watches to pay his debts to illegal bookmakers.
Morata has now come out to deny all of that. In a post on Instagram, Morata said:
"I have seen the information that is coming out about me and I want to clarify that the only thing I have helped Fagioli with in these years is giving him advice on his career, as a friend and a person with more experience than him. I have never known anything about his situation.
"I love Nicolò very much and I hope he can fix all his mistakes soon, but I have nothing to do with his situation and I ask you not to spread false news or lies. I repeat: I deny all the information that has come out because it is FALSE. Thank you.”.
