Brazil’s betting site traffic soars 90% after regulation begins
The Brazilian sports betting market has exploded in popularity since the country officially began regulating the industry in January 2025. In just the first quarter, betting platforms recorded over 5 billion visits — a 90% increase compared to the previous quarter.
This surge represents approximately 650 visits per second. The growth was especially sharp in March, which alone saw 1.8 billion visits — a new monthly record.
The regulation triggered a wave of investment by major operators in advertising and media partnerships, helping to attract even more users. The number of licensed operators also grew from 150 in January to over 170 by March.
Betano led the market with 1.1 billion visits in 2025, followed by Superbet and Bet365. Media-linked brands like Bandbet (Rede Bandeirantes), MGM Apostas (TV Globo), and Bet do Milhão (SBT) are also gaining traction.
According to Aposta Legal, the typical Brazilian bettor is male (68%) and between 25–34 years old, but female participation (32%) and older users are both growing fast.
However, André Gelfi, the head of Brazil’s responsible gambling body recently warned that illegal bookmakers still dominate the market, despite the legislation.
