Neymar overtakes Lukaku, Zlatan in top 10: most expensive footballers ever by combined transfer fees
Neymar has moved to Al Hilal and has reclaimed the top spot in the list of the most expensive players by transfer fees across their careers.
Previously, Romelu Lukaku held the record after clubs like Inter Milan, Chelsea and Man United paid huge transfer fees for the Belgian which totalled over €300m.
Let's have a look at the list.
1. Neymar €400m
More than 50% of Neymar's career total, €222m, was paid by Paris Saint-Germain. However, Barca also paid Santos big money (also hookers for Ney's dad) and Al Hilal have just wired €90m to PSG.
2. Romelu Lukaku €333.3m
The Belgian's total transfer fees add up to a huge number largely to the fact he's been transferred seven times in his career.
3. Cristiano Ronaldo €247m
The total transfer fee would be higher if Ronaldo hadn't left Man United for Al Nassr for nothing. Still, he makes the top 3.
4. Ousmane Dembele €220m
The Frenchman always costs his next club big money. He might have been higher on the list if not for the special clause in his Barcelona contract.
5. Alvaro Morata €189m
Some people on the internet believe Morata is a money laundering scheme. He usually plays either for Atletico Madrid or Juventus, scores an average number of goals and is then linked to a €50m transfer to one of those clubs again.
6-7. Philippe Coutinho, Antoine Griezmann €180m
The famous Neymar money. Both the Brazilian and the Frenchman two only have one big-money move in their careers -- to FC Barcelona where they pretty much failed.
8. Kylian Mbappe €180m
The World Cup winner has only ever changed clubs one so his transfer total is made up of just his transfer from AS Monaco to PSG.
9. Angel Di Maria €179m
The Argentinian was a hot name back in the day and a few top clubs paid big money to have him in the squad.
10. Zlatan Ibrahimovic €169m
It won't be long before Zlatan is pushed out of the top 10 but for now it's cool to have someone from the past generation on this list.
