Why Angel Gomes-to-Chelsea rumours make sense - and why we should treat them with caution
I have to confess that I haven't watched Gomes playing for United very often (he's not played that regularly, anyway), but whenever it happened I quite liked him. He's just 19 years old, quick, skilful, even if diminutive.
Moreover, this would be a great chance to stick it to United - it's not often that they see one of their most promising talents leave for free to a direct rival.
How do we know that Gomes is valued highly? It's simple: United are still in talks with him over a new contract and the sides just can't agree on the financial terms.
And that's why we should be very careful not to get too carried away. It could well be that Gomes' team are just applying pressure on United and effectively threatening them to take the attacking midfielder to the top-4 competitor.
Should Chelsea go ahead with this deal? Discuss.

This would be a low-risk signing for Chelsea. If it works that's great, if not, we can always sell him to Aston Villa or the like
Yes, finally someone said it
