Wait what? Roberto Carlos ranked among '10 most overrated footballers of all time'
Some things are really hard to explain.
One of such things is the decision of Football365 to include Roberto Carlos in the list of the '10 most overrated footballers of all time'.
The Brazilian is ranked 3rd on the list while the article's authors explain that the left-back 'didn't ever bother defending'. But we're not speaking about the most overrated left-backs, right? It's not big news that Roberto Carlos often played as a wide midfielder, just like his heir, Marcelo.
Roberto Carlos is actually considered the best left-back in the history of football and it doesn't necessarily mean that he was good in that particular role – it's more about the pitch area he was occupying.
Besides, most of the wing-backs earn their pay checks going forward, stretching and straining the defence nowadays – and this is what makes them recognisable: Trent Alexander-Arnold, Achraf Hakimi, Joshua Kimmich, to name a few.
Do you agree that Roberto Carlos should be excluded from that list?
