Gyokeres in control, Mbappe pushing hard: 5 major contenders emerge for 2024/25 European Golden Boot

The 2024/25 European football season is nearing its end as the domestic league start to move into their final stretch.

There are only a few matchdays remaining for the top European leagues. When it comes to UEFA's competitions, there are only the finales to take care of.

The European Golden Boot race is also getting heated. It's given to the player with most goals in Europe's top leagues. The player's goals as well as the coefficient system of their league enables them to acquire points, and the player with most points is awarded the award. As we head into the final stretch of the campaign, here are the current five favorites to win the European Golden Boot award.

1. Viktor Gyokeres (38 goals, 57 pts)

The Sporting CP forward has taken Europe by storm with his amazing work in the Liga Portugal. He's scored 38 goals in 33 matches so far, averaging well over one-goal per game.

Sporting have one more game remaining in the league this season. Gyokeres is currently on 57 points as his goals are worth 1.5 points per goal each by calculating UEFA's coefficient.

2. Mohamed Salah (28 goals, 56 pts)

Mohamed Salah has played a huge role in helping Liverpool secure the 2024/25 Premier League title with his heroics. He's scored 28 goals for the Reds and is currently second in the European Golden Boot race.

He has 56 points in the race (as the Premier League coefficient gives him two points per goal) and can seal the title if able to score multiple goals in the remaining games.

3. Kylian Mbappe (27 goals, 54 pts)

Kylian Mbappe is having an explosive end to the 2024/25 La Liga campaign, having recent scored a hattrick against Barcelona. He leads the La Liga top scorers charts with 27 goals and has 54 points in the European Golden Boot race.

He has three more matches to play with Los Blancos in the league and can clinch this award if able to surpass the 30-goal mark in La Liga.

4. Harry Kane (25 goals, 50 pts)

Harry Kane is on cloud nine after winning his first-ever major trophy by clinching the Bundesliga title with Bayern Munich. However, he faces an uphill task in the European Golden Boot race.

He has 25 goals in the Bundesliga and 50 points in the race. However, Kane has just one more game left in the league and needs to score 4-5 goals to have a big chance of winning the award.

5. Robert Lewandowski (25 goals, 50 pts)

Similar to Kane, Robert Lewandowski has also scored 25 goals in the 2024/25 La Liga campaign to usher Barcelona towards the title.

He's also on 50 points, but Lewandowski has three more league games to go. If he's able to power a flurry of goals in the final games, then the 36-year-old has a chance of winning this award despite his age.

The other part of the top 10 looks like this.

6. Mateo Retegui - 24 goals (48 pts)

7. Alexander Isak - 23 goals (46 pts)

8. Mika Biereth - 24 goals (42.5 pts)

9. Ousmane Dembele - 21 goals (42 pts)

10. Erling Haaland - 21 goals (42 pts)

Where's Victor Osimeh scored 33 goals? In the 2024-2025 season, Victor Osimhen has scored 33 goals across all competitions. This includes 24 goals in the Super Lig, 6 goals in the Europa League, and 3 goals in the World Cup Qualification. Additionally, he has 3 goals in the Cup.

Bro the stats they are talking about is each player's domestic league goals not goals in all competitions, Gyokeres has more than 40 goals in all competitions... but Osimhen has 24 goals is his domestic league which has a result of 36points according to UEFA coefficient of 1.5 point per goal for Turkish league, just like 1.5 points per goal for Gyokeres from Portuguese league.. Don't rush into judgment bro, try and understand something very well before U comment... So Osimhen is not among the top 10 bro...

Have FSG considered Gyokeres instead of Isak. I watched him on YouTube and I'm sure he would excel as LFC's CF.

No thank you what happened the last time we bought a centre forward from the Portuguese league,??? plus in a 131 games in the championship he only scored 45 goals ( 1 in 3 record) not worth the asking price and we ain't getting Isak either

You only watched him on YouTube and you want FSG to sign him ? Liverpool has a team of scouts to search for suitable candidates so suggest you go watch YouTube n leave players signing to the professionals

best is both osimhen n gyokers willing to sign for man utd ,and man utd are willingly to sign both of them .... if not we need at least one of them here , plus 2 more strong defensive midfielders, our midfield area needs to enhance with more strong stable players ..forget about hajlund, zirkzee, garnacho we can sell 3 of them to sign in players we really needed....

Win what ? Are you on drug or dreaming ? How can you expect Mbappe to win a Golden Boot by this time of the toward of the end of season ? 28 goals against 38 goals an LALIGA remain only just 2 match to played, are you telling us that they should help mbappe with assist to score 11 goals in remaining 2 games ? Bcz if mbappe won to win the golden boot then he should ready to score atlest 11 to 12 goals in 2 remaining match.

The gyokeres guy is scoring more goals than appearance, if Oshime doesn’t work we can get the guy he seem strong and moves well
