'He was clearly hurting': What Liverpool players and coaches did 20 minutes after Trent Alexander-Arnold got booed by Anfield
'He was expecting a negative reaction but not quite to this level'
During Liverpool's 2-2 draw with Arsenal at Anfield, Trent Alexander-Arnold faced a mixed reception from the home crowd.
Entering the match in the 67th minute, he was met with both boos and applause, reflecting fans' reactions to his recent announcement of leaving the club at season's end, likely for Real Madrid.
Despite the support from some fans, the boos were really loud and clearly got into Trent's head.
According to the reports, some players and coaches tried to help Trent: "Alexander-Arnold re-emerged for a post-match warm-down. Some of his fellow substitutes doing the same, like Diogo Jota, put an arm around him, as did coaches John Heitinga and Aaron Briggs."
"He was clearly hurting and it was awkward to watch. The word is he was expecting a negative reaction but perhaps not quite to this level. He wanted to get it over and done with and now that is done."
"In the dressing room, more players asked if he was OK."
