'Is Maresca giving up on Premier League?': fans react to Chelsea XI vs Legia Warsaw
'What the f**k.'
Enzo Maresca has named an unexpectedly strong Chelsea side for the return leg against Legia in the Conference League quarter-final — despite a comfortable 3-0 lead after the away first leg.
Cole Palmer and Nicolas Jackson are both starting — as well as Reece James whose playing time is still limited, which means he is unlikely to play against Fulham this weekend.
As a result, a large portion of Chelsea fans are asking new questions about Maresca's thinking. As if there were none.
Vince: "Strong Chelsea XI vs Legia tonight. Maresca isn't taking any chances."
captainpiss420: "'Chelsea fans should trust me'... Full strength in a dead rubber against 5th place in Poland while resting key players in vital league games."
CollapsingCaldera: "Is this Maresca making this trophy the priority and giving up the PL? I am confused"
Will: "Maresca is so confused… What do you mean he’s playing this strong of a side for a game we’re THREE NIL up in but won’t play a strong side in the Premier League"
Felix: "Reece James, Palmer and Jackson all starting in the 2nd leg of a Conference League game at home when we’re 3-0 up. What the f**k."
Conn: "Doesn’t play Reece James vs Ipswich but plays him tonight in the Conference League? Wtf man."
Popmusic19: "We need most of these players for Fulham. F**king rest them man. Get to Sunday and be like they needed rest when you could rest them for this game."
webby09246: "Actually, don't think he's clueless at all with this lineup. I am genuinely starting to believe the rumours that he knows he's getting sacked in the summer and wants to win the Conference League before he does"
