Revealed: Real Madrid's ridiculous offer to Liverpool for early Alexander-Arnold signing
They want him for the Club World Cup
Liverpool and Real Madrid are reportedly close to agreeing on a deal for Trent Alexander-Arnold's early release from his contract.
Alexander-Arnold has confirmed he will leave Liverpool this summer after 20 years with the club, and it's widely expected he'll join Madrid on a free transfer.
However, Madrid want Alexander-Arnold to join before June 30, when his contract expires, as the FIFA Club World Cup starts on June 15.
To make this happen, Madrid have offered Liverpool a reported €2 million (£1.7m) for Alexander-Arnold's early release.
The deal would allow Alexander-Arnold to join Madrid ahead of the tournament, and Romano confirmed the offer.
The news comes after Alexander-Arnold was booed by Liverpool fans during a match against Arsenal, with Mohamed Salah defending him, saying he "didn't deserve it" and had given his all to the fans.
Liverpool's next match is against Brighton and Hove Albion at the AMEX on Monday night.
