Which football team does new Pope Leo XIV support?
The new Pope is American but supports a club in Italy.
On Thursday, the much-anticipated white smoke appeared on a chimney atop the Sistine Chapel at the Vatican in Rome, confirming that a new pope had been chosen by the cardinals.
This time, American Cardinal Robert Prevost was chosen to lead the Catholic church, becoming the first American to hold such an honour.
He will now be known as Pope Leo XIV.
Speaking an interview earlier, a referend father, Father Giuseppe Pagano revealed which club the new pope supports
“I studied with him in 1983 in Rome, he [the new pope] was a little older than me, then, later, I worked alongside him for five years in the general house in Rome,” Father Pagano said.
“With him you quickly establish a relationship of mutual trust and when we travelled together, we also had fun, he is a person who wants to learn, he is interested in things, he has many hobbies, he loves driving a car, he would do it for hours.”
“He loves sports. He is a big Roma fan. I spoke to him after the Roma-Fiorentina match. He jokingly told me: ‘Roma’s victory is Francis’ first miracle after his death.”
