Boyle to resign as chairman of UK Gambling Commission
Marcus Boyle will step down as chairman of the UK Gambling Commission after over three years in the role, a statement on the regulator's website confirmed.
During his tenure, Boyle implemented several changes, including the awarding and launch of the fourth National Lottery licence, which has driven funds raised for good causes to exceed £50 billion. He has also been proactive in enforcing the Gambling Act Review and White Paper aimed at reducing gambling harm.
This is confirmed by the set out of a detailed three-year strategy in April, where the main goal was stated to enhance transparency and leverage data to strengthen regulatory oversight.
With these plans now in motion, Boyle leaves the organisation in a strong position and with a clear path forward, the UKGC said in a statement.
Boyle was first appointed chair of the Gambling Commission in September 2021. No details have been providedregarding the reason for Boyle's early departure or the identity of his successor.
