Pizza Hut faces backlash for promoting online casino bonuses on UK website
Quick service restaurant chain Pizza Hut had been advertising online gambling on its British website, reports The Guardian.
Customers reportedly encountered congratulating customers for having won up to 300 free spins after placing orders. “No deposit required! Claim your spins today!” the now-deleted message continued.
As per the report, the controversy stemmed from Pizza Hut's partnership with freespinsloops.com, a website focusing on online slots and free spin bonuses. A spokesperson for Free Spins Loops linked the sudden emergence of gambling-related ads on Pizza Hut's website to the actions of third-party advertising agencies.
“This is yet further evidence of how out of control gambling adverting has become. It’s not even possible to order a pizza without online casino products being pushed on to people,” former leader of the Conservative Party Iain Duncan Smith told the Guardian.
