- Tuchel feels the connection between the midfield and attack just wasn't right on the night.
- Pulisic had good momentum while Giroud had good memories of the stadium.
- The subs made a good impact on the game, Tuchel adds.
"Our two German players, Kai and Timo, didn't play at their highest level today so I wanted to have an impact from the bench. Christian has had a good momentum and Oli had good memories of the stadium.
"I am happy with the impact by our substitutes. It's important we have this bond between the players and imapct from the bench. We are super happy. The job is half done and we are aware we need another top performance on Tuesday."
While Chelsea were still in the lead, Tuchel felt the need to sub both Werner and Havertz off at the hour mark after the duo failed to make a significant impact on the encounter.
Werner did set up Havertz for a tap in the 2nd half but the 21-year-old fluffed his lines and missed the target from an open goal.
Eventually, the Blues will look on the bright side of a 2-0 win against a difficult Porto side.
