Mount allegedly on Southgate's radar for England call-up
According to a report in the Daily Mail, the Three Lions boss already considers the next generation of the players who might be called-up to the senior team in the near future.
The trio of Jadon Sancho, Ryan Sessegnon, and Ademola Lookman are believed to be the ones closely monitored by Southgate while Manchester City midfielder Phil Foden and Chelsea playmaker Mason Mount have also emerged on Southgate's radar. The only issue with the latter two might be their lack of senior football, as per the outlet.
However, in Mount's case, the problem might be solved during this summer transfer window. According to the Telegraph, the Derby County's boss Frank Lampard has started searching for reinforcements from his former side, just as it's been expected. The Blues' legend is allegedly ready to step up in the playmaker's pursuit and has even held talks with Chelsea, as the club would be happy to help the ex-midfielder as well as to continue Mount's development.
Mount, 19, has scored 14 goals and made 11 assists in his spell with Vitesse in the Eredivisie which did not go unnoticed by Southgate. The young midfielder was particularly good at the season's end and he managed to make into the Eredivisie Team of the Season.
