We only liked TWO players in Man City defeat: ratings
Callum Hudson-Odoi - 7
Active all through the first half. A 17-year-old you've got to feel sorry for because he didn't have many people around him to play the ball with...So he took it upon himself to carry it & threaten with a few strikes. He looked as composed as a seasoned first-teamer in this role.
The only 'but' is his miscommunication with Alvaro Morata in the second half. A poor pass cost the Blues a counter-attack that saw City double the lead.
Willy Caballero - 7
The Argentinian saved the Blues from a complete hiding with his saves and that was against Aguero & Co constantly breaking away from a torpid Chelsea defence and nonexistent midfield that were supposed to absorb at least some pressure.
Ross Barkley - 6
The Englishman is showing all the signs of why he can strike back and recover his career, only slowly. Still, it's something.
Ross was especially impressive in defence as he won a few balls for the Blues anywhere on the pitch. He did suffer from some poor passing and bad touch but he was not the only one in this regard.
Jorginho - 5
The new man was a target and an easy one for Man City players no matter in what positions. Not only was the Italian often dispossessed but he also fed some dubious through passes, attempts to fool opposition's defenders, that Claudio Bravo easily claimed from the ground.
Marcos Alonso - 5
Just as everyone feared, the Spaniard is getting more and more exposed when defending his own goal. Sarri's system ensures the players stay in a tight line that doesn't suit Alonso who is often too close to the middle which allowed Mahrez to enjoy the ball. And when Marcos Alonso got outplayed upfront it was bound to be a total disaster at the back.
Alvaro Morata - 4.5
Well, where do we begin? The Spaniard was as ineffective as can be and even caused Richard Dunne to assess his game very critically.
A striker can be assessed in two regards. If he doesn't score then he must work his ass off to help the team. Alvaro did neither. When he had a chance to complete his direct duty he made poor decisions. When he was needed to move the ball, he only contributed to the opponent.
And what are your ratings for the lads?
