Maurizio Sarri verdict after Huddersfield Town: 'Game won by individual talent, not tactics'
- Sarri has won his first Prem game 3-0 against Huddersfield Town
- He insists improvements are still needed.
Sarri said at his post-match press conference: ''I am very happy, because in the first half of the season I think it is not easy for us to gain points. After the fifteen first-half minutes I saw Chelsea were in trouble against a physical team, but it was easier in the second half.''
''I was not completely satisfied, as we won today mainly due to individual talent rather than tactical organisation,'' Sarri told Sky Sport Italia. ''It was an ugly game at times, physical and quite difficult too, but the lads emerged from it with great character.
Maurizio Sarri's reign as Chelsea manager gets off to be best possible start. Fantastic to see every player make a positive contribution -- in particular it was nice to see Alonso, Willian & Morata compete so well.— Mark Worrall (@gate17marco) August 11, 2018
Luiz looked reborn & that has to be down to Sarri.
''Some players arrived only a week or even three days ago, so our pre-season effectively begins now and we’ve got to hurry things.''
He then added on the team's progression: ''Only in certain moments of the game [Chelsea play the way I want them to]. We have to improve to defend. We have to improve in moving the ball faster.''
Given the circumstances - new coach/style/system, key player rust, well coached physical opponents - this is a start beyond Sarri’s wildest dreams #cfc— Liam Twomey (@liam_twomey) August 11, 2018
He then concluded by saying what he wants to achieve at Stamford Bridge: ''I don't want to do another Naples. I want to do a Chelsea.''
