Mirror: Barella transfer not likely to happen in January due to player's family issues
- The Blues reportedly ready to pay £45m for the Italian.
- The 21-year-old footballer is allegedly considered a replacement for Cesc Fabregas.
- However, Barella's wife is pregnant for another six months and unwilling to move to England.
- It is very likely that the transfer is put on hold until summer.
Chelsea reportedly offered the Serie A side Cagliari around £45m for the player. However, the bid will allegedly be put on hold until the summer because of Barella's family situation, Mirror claims.
It is reported that midfielder's wife is with a child for another six months, and she indicated that she doesn't want to leave Italy until the birth.
Marco Zucca (Sardegna 1 journalist): "Barella wants to stay in Cagliari until June, bcos his wife who is expecting the second child but Cagliari needs money and Chelsea want to buy him in January. Abramovich annoyed in the last hours, has given an ultimatum to Cagliari" pic.twitter.com/FNFuVauoKo— Sarrismo™ (@Blue_Footy) 10 января 2019 г.
This could also complicate Cesc Fabregas' situation at Chelsea. The Blues' sporting director Marina Granovskaya is unwilling to let the Spaniard go until the replacement arrives, despite the Monaco offer, and it seems that Barella transfer will not be happening until the summer at the very least.
When asked about Nicolo Barella during one of the recent press conferences, Maurizio Sarri hinted the Italian could be a replacement for Cesc Fabregas:
"I don’t want to speak about players of other teams. If Cesc wants to go then we need a replacement. I don’t know the situation of Loftus, if it is serious. Without Cesc we are only five, we need a replacement."
