UEFA Team of the Year 2018 revealed: 2 Blues make the list
- Eden Hazard and N'Golo Kante are among 11 best players of 2018 as voted for by fans.
- Another Premier League footballer in the starting XI is Liverpool's Virgil van Dijk.
- Real Madrid are the most represented club: four Los Blancos are in the squad.
UEFA have recently revealed their 2018 Team of the Year as voted for by fans. While Real Madrid's Luka Modric received the most votes, Chelsea's Eden Hazard and N'Golo Kante also made the magic XI. The Frenchman won the FA Cup with The Blues in May and became the World Cup champion in June.
Speaking of the Belgian, he also won the trophy after beating Manchester United at Wembley and earned a bronze medal along with the Adidas Silver Ball as he was named the second best player at the Mundial. Eden Also had a tremendous start to the 2018/19 season: since August our winger has netted 12 goals and provided his team-mates with 19 assists.
Virgil van Dijk is another Premier League player in UEFA team. The most represented club are Real Madrid as Luka Modric, Sergio Ramos, Raphael Varane and Marcelo all feature in the list. Of course, Cristiano Ronaldo, Leo Messi and Kylian Mbappe are up front.
After the victory over Liverpool in October, Maurizio Sarri said Hazard could become the best player in the world: "I think that he is for sure one of the best (players in the world), but I am absolutely convinced that he can improve. If he’s able to improve during training maybe he will be able to use and serve at 100 per cent."
Despite being named The Best FIFA Goalkeeper and winning the FIFA World Cup Golden Glove, Los Blancos' Thibaut Courtois and Chelsea's former goalie couldn't make it into the team as Barca's Marc-Andre Ter Stegen replaced him. That's probably due to the Belgian's inconsistency in the first half of the current season: Courtois has conceded 27 goals in 21 games since the start of the campaign.
