Bookies favourite to replace Sarri Lampard reveals his stance on situation
- Frank Lampard has been named a favourite to replace Maurizio Sarri at Chelsea.
- The Derby County manager himself stresses he has too much respect for both his former club and their current boss to think about such a course of events.
- The iconic midfielder, fully focused on the Rams job, wishes the Blues to come back stronger with the current head coach.
On Sunday, February 10, Chelsea suffered a humbling 6-0 defeat to Manchester City at Etihad. As most of the Blues' previous managers were fired for lesser setbacks, bookmakers have immediately set their odds on who would most likely replace Maurizio Sarri on the Stamford Bridge dugout should the Italian be sacked.
Frank Lampard, a club's legend currently working at Championship side Derby County, has been named a favourite. The iconic midfielder himself, however, rules out any potential swoop as he told Sky Sports:
"Bookmakers are not always right for starters! I will never get excited about that. It is certainly a club I respect and a manager that I respect so it wouldn't make me smile or anything different because my job is here.
"I am working very hard and my whole thoughts are with Ipswich Town away on Wednesday, and travelling down to Brighton in the FA Cup at the weekend.
"I obviously follow Chelsea, have huge respect for them, and I hope to see them, put some form together and turn those results around."
